 For those of you who don't know me yet, I am from Cape Cod MA. but now live in the upper FL Keys. My name is Michael Trixx and like all of us, I love magic. But unlike a lot of us I never even saw a magic trick until I was 25 years old. It was Christmas time,1995. I was playing in a band in Sarasota and this guy borrowed and vanished my lit cigarette (I'm no longer a smoker!). Later he taught me the secret....for $40.00! True story.
Two weeks later I sold all my music equipment and started buying magic books and videos to teach myself this art. I have been lucky enough to stay busy performing magic full time for the past 12-13 years.
However, I had never taken a REAL magic lesson or even been to a magic meeting or convention. I was never a member of any magic group or organization until 2005 when I found out my favorite magician had his own magic school in Las Vegas.
My first visit to McBride's Magic and Mystery School changed not only my show for the better (understatement) but it changed me as a person also (I have now been 3 times). Upon returning to the Keys I began searching for conventions in my area and found Daytona magic and their annual convention. 2007 was my first magic convention and my first time competing in the stage magic contest and I missed third place by 1.5 points. I went back the following year entered the stage and close up contests, getting 2nd place in stage and 3rd place in close-up. The following year I won 1st in stage, 2nd in strolling and 3rd in close-up. The moral to this story? Yes, you CAN do it! no matter what your goals are. Keep working hard. Try not to get too frustrated. It may not happen right away but with persistence and dedication IT WILL COME. Good luck in reaching your next goal.
If you want to be the best magician you can be, do yourself a favor, go to Vegas and take a master class!
